I usually reserve this space for “finishing notes”, but this sock pattern is so exciting I think it calls for “starting notes”.  The pattern, Turbo Toes, is from the upcoming book, A KNITTER’S BOOK OF SOCKS, by Clara Parkes.  The book goes on sale October 11, and the patterns haven’t been included on Ravelry yet so perhaps this is the first you will see and hear about this amazing pattern.
The book’s subtitle talks of socks that “fit well, feel great, and last a lifetime”, and this particular sock seems destined for all three, for sure!  I love the “last a lifetime” part, and the slip-stitched fabric in Turbo Toes, from the toe up through the gusset and heel, is naturally reinforced by the density of the stitches…You can see how much more compressed the rows are as you move upward and compare it to the stockinette on the front of the sock.
This is fun!
I haven’t been this excited about a sock pattern since my Turkish Bed Socks.
Naturally, the Blue Moon Socks That Rock Lightweight that I am using in this project is a wonderful match for the slip-stitch work.  The soft striping that happens row by row through the foot is mesmerizing.
I love you, new sock.  I’m never giving you up. View high resolution
